Every once and a while, a lure comes along that deserves more attention than others. In the class of garden variety top water lures, there’s a new dog in the fight: Strike King’s KVD Sexy Dawg. If you’ve tried other top water, walking style lures without success, you need to give this one a look. We got our hands on a few of these new lures from Strike King, courtesy of Kim Stricker of Hook n’ Look TV, and were pleasantly surprised at the new offering. We were so impressed, in fact, we thought you should know about it. Here is our review…

Price:

First of all, let’s talk about what stocking up on these new lures will do to your wallet. At the time of this article, we found the KVD Sexy Dawg on Tackle Warehouse for $7.59. This price-point puts it cheaper than some, more expensive than others, but all in all, it is what you would expect from Strike King: great looking paint job, good hooks (not great hooks, but honestly, not bad), nice action,…  It is very good quality, but not the best. Like anything else, if you want the “best” be prepared to pay the price tag for it.

Overall, we think that lure at that price is a good value.

Strike King Lure Company is a large enough company that you see the economy of scale in their products. Which is to say, that you get a little more value for your money because they are able to offset the cost of research and development, tooling costs, and other initial-production expenses by dealing in volume. A smaller company would have to charge more to cover their expenses.

Is the price worth it? –we give an enthusiastic “YES” and recommend you get a few.
